Charlotte County Music Students receive Florida State Music Teacher Association Awards

Eight students of the Peace River Music Teachers Association (PRMTA) achieved high marks for their performances in piano and voice before an adjudicator on Sunday, April 13, 2008. The music students performed a required number of piano pieces by memory, as well as passing written and aural theory exams. The music students include Ayende Anthony and Lianna Hubbard, who were presented in the Primary level.  Lauryn  Hubbard, piano and voice at Level I,  Jessica Mullin, piano level II, Nathaniel Williams, Level III, and Hotep Anthony, Meghan Piotrowski, and Halle Fields, Level IV.
The students receiving PERFORMANCE HONORS received a
Florida State Music Teacher Association medallion. These music students are taught by PERMIT teachers Barbara Goldberg and Connie H. Swett. The public is invited to a recital to hear these award winning students, along with other music students, on Sunday, May 18 at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Charlotte County, 1532 Forrest Nelson Blvd. in Port Charlotte. Donations will be requested at the program on behalf of supplies and scholarships for the music students. PRMTA is the local Chapter of the National and Florida State Music Teachers Association. For more information contact Connie Swett at 505-2332.

A community is judged by what is provided by it's libraries.

Our citizen's need our libraries. We need libraries to access computers to apply for jobs and to search for information. Libraries are needed - for books our children wish to read and for books we wish to read to our children as well as for ourselves.
